Fall in Grand Forks ND

One of the great things about living in Grand Forks is the variety of festivals and events. Fall is no different, so if you’ve recently moved into one of the Grand Forks ND homes in the Autumn Plains community or have purchased a lot, now is the time to start exploring more of the area and enjoying all the fall fun.

This one’s coming up quick: The Greenway Takeover Fest. From September 9-12, you can really get a feel for Grand Forks as the festival of live music and entertainment spreads out along the banks of the Red River, stretching along the Greenway in the heart of downtown. Music, entertainment, and plenty of food and drink options make this a favorite event. It’s also family and pet friendly, making it the perfect place to connect with friends and family and feel like a part of the Grand Forks community.

You may think of Idaho when you think of potatoes, but Grand Forks will give them a run for the money with the Potato Bowl on September 18th. Every year, the world’s largest french fry feed is held in University Park. Hundreds of thousands of pounds of fries are freshly made and given out for free. The fries are followed up by fireworks.  This is more than just free fries, though. As the name and location may imply, there’s an actual Potato Bowl, as in a football game, taking place that weekend. On the Saturday, head to University Avenue for a parade that will get you ready for some tailgating before the actual Potato Bowl takes place, this year seeing UND take on Drake University.

Finally, it is fall, after all, and fall means all things pumpkin. What better way to get into the mood than to visit some of the pumpkin patches where you can find your perfect pumpkins. Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch, located just north of the Air Force Base, takes place September 11 – October 30, 2021. Another great option is Patch on the Point, located just south of East Grand Forks goes from September 18 – October 24, 2021. Best of all, these pumpkin patches offer more than just pretty pumpkins. There’s plenty of entertainment that goes on throughout the season and that includes games, toys, corn mazes, and plenty of great photo opportunities, perfect for Instagram!
