Christmas Window Decorations

There’s something so festive and heart-warming about setting up the Christmas decorations each year. No matter how busy life may be, once you start opening those storage boxes and setting up the tree, it’s hard not to get into the holiday spirit. While you’re decking the halls of your Grand Forks ND new homes, don’t forget to deck the windows, too. After all, they’re a great way to show off your holiday spirit inside and outside the home.

Wreaths aren’t just for the front door. They look great hung by a lovely piece of ribbon in each window. You don’t have to go with anything elaborate; just choose some simple green evergreen branch wreaths or red berry wreaths to add a touch of color and spirit to your home.

Another easy window decoration is a pair of bells. Don’t worry, they don’t have to be real. You can find some beautiful bells made of rattan and other natural fibers in natural colors or even with a hint of frost.

For the flower lover, don’t miss out on the chance to put a splash of color in your windows with potted poinsettias. These beautiful red blooms with their deep green leaves are the perfect holiday touch. If you have pets, you can still have poinsettias. Their level of toxicity is mild and it’s only the milky white sap that is mildly toxic. Still, if you have determined chewers, you may want to think twice or consider fabric flowers to avoid a season of discomfort for your pet.

For something a little different, try using an evergreen branch to hang across the top of your window and then string some favorite decorations from ribbon tied to the branch. Red ribbon and some holiday cookie cutters make for a festive yet light-weight display.

In a similar manner, you could use garland or even clear fishing line to serve as a base to string up colorful tree decorations. Go for a mix of glittery and shiny baubles at different heights and maybe even in complementary colors for a whimsical display.

Another option is to frame your windows with garland. You could leave the garland plain or add in a few red ribbons, silver baubles, or even entwine the garland with small white lights for a beautiful evening glow.

Finally, don’t forget the importance of candles and lanterns. Whether you choose battery powered “candles” or create an arrangement with decorative lanterns with real candles, they add a nice welcoming glow to your home.

There are so many ways to make the most of the windows this season in your Grand Forks ND new homes. Even a simple combination of a few leftover Christmas tree decorations and some candles go a long way to adding to your home’s holiday spirit.
