The Only Checklist You Need Before Guests Arrive

The holidays are a magical time full of fun and festive cheer and a wonderful chance to catch up with family and friends. However, if some of those family and friends are going to be showing up on the doorsteps of Grand Forks ND new homes during this busy time of year, it helps to be prepared. Fortunately, there’s nothing like a checklist to make sure everything gets done so you can relax and enjoy your guests and the holidays. This will help you focus on the big picture, as well as details for important rooms in the house.

Deep Clean
At least a week before everyone arrives, deep clean and declutter, especially in guest rooms, bathrooms, the kitchen, and living room, and go ahead and wash sheets, blankets, towels, and washcloths. Then, the day before the guests arrive, do a quick freshen up of the bathroom, dust blinds, fluff pillows, vacuum, and clear up any last-minute clutter.

Guest Room
Make up the bed with the freshly laundered sheets, and include some extra blankets and pillows. Make sure there is space in the closets and drawers and don’t forget some empty hangers. If possible, set up a luggage rack or stool/ottoman. Make sure the blinds and curtains work and that the windows are clean. The room should definitely have a trashcan and you may want to include a laundry hamper.

Bedside Table
Depending on the style of your bedside table, consider providing some reading materials. You should also include the wi-fi password, tissues, a lamp, a small bowl or tray for jewelry and/or coins, a clock, and consider adding a carafe of water and some fresh flowers if there is space.

Guest Bathroom
All of the bathrooms that guests may use should be well stocked with toilet paper and towels. You may also want to include disposable cups, a shower organizer, and hooks for robes and towels.

Toiletries Basket
It’s easy to forget basic toiletries when traveling, so put together a basket with shampoo, conditioner, shower soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, deodorant, disposable razor, nail file, and ibuprofen.

Kitchen
People often have different sleeping schedules, so if your guests happen to be early risers, they shouldn’t be left wandering Grand Forks ND new homes without easy access to breakfast staples. Put together a corner of the kitchen that has coffee, creamer, sugar, cups, glasses, bottled water, snacks, and some breakfast foods. If you show them the basics of your kitchen the night before, they’ll be able to take care of themselves easily.

As every host knows, the goal is to help your guests feel right at home. These simple gestures will make everyone more relaxed and comfortable.
