Tips for Selling Your Home Clean it Up! The buyer's first impression is when they pull up to your house. You want great curb appeal! Keep the grass cut and all landscaping trimmed and neat. In winter, keep all walks shoveled and salted. Wash the exterior of your house. Wash all windows inside and out. Get rid of all "stuff" that is cluttering up your home. Clean out your attic, basement, and garage. Make your fridge and stove sparkle. Have your home professionally cleaned. Touch it Up! Put a fresh coat of paint in all dingy areas or rooms with high traffic. Put a new coat of wax or floor shine on all hard surface flooring. Paint the floors of the garage and basement. Make those bathrooms and kitchen sparkle! Think about bleaching the grout in all bathroom tile. Remember, it's sparkling bathrooms and light and bright kitchens that really help sell homes! Fix it Up! Repair or replace those leaky faucets. Fix peeling wallpaper and wrinkled or loose flooring. Repair cracked tiling or cuts and burns in all flooring. Do all doors and windows open, shut, and latch, as they should? Oil all door hinges. Have your heating and A/C system serviced. Taking care of the little things counts. Don't give the buyer a reason to not buy your home. Freshen it Up! Open your windows and let the sun and fresh air in. This can be done in winter as well, even if just for a minute or two. Clean up all pet odors and evidence of pet stains. Wash and put away those ashtrays. Bake some frozen cinnamon rolls and put some fresh cut flowers out on a day you are expecting potential buyers. |
